Westmeath contains some wonderful landscape together with a number of lakes with wooded shores and rolling hills, providing many charismatic views. Ancient historical legends include that of Lough Derravaragh, situated to the north of the county and is well-known as the first of the three lakes on which the legendary children of Lir spent 300 years.
